DAVAO CITY – In a significant political move, the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas (PDP) led by former President Rodrigo Duterte has allied with three prominent political groups during its national assembly in Davao City on Friday. The alliance aims to solidify the party’s ranks in preparation for the upcoming 2025 elections.
The formalization of the alliance took place at the D’ Leonor Inland Resort, where the PDP, together with Partido Reporma, Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), and the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte–National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC), signed a memorandum of agreement.
Notable figures present at the event included Senator Robin Padilla, Cebu Mayor Mike Rama, and former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, among others. Former Presidential Anti-Corruption chairman Greco Belgica and PDDS founder expressed his support for the alliance, emphasizing the collective effort to strengthen unity within the political landscape.
The decision to form this alliance was rooted in a resolution adopted during the PDP’s National Meeting held in Cebu City earlier this year. The unity displayed at the National Assembly in Davao City, with over 1,200 PDP officials and members in attendance from across the nation, underscores a high level of regional, provincial, and national representation within the party.
In his address at the assembly, Senator Robin Padilla praised the commitment and courage of those who chose to stand by the party, highlighting their dedication to the principles and objectives of the PDP.
With this strategic alliance in place, the PDP and its affiliated groups are poised to navigate the political landscape with a unified front, setting the stage for a dynamic and collaborative approach toward the upcoming electoral challenges in 2025.
