Davao City, Philippines — Major General Alex S. Rillera, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central, proudly announced the significant accomplishments of the 57th Infantry (Masikap) Battalion under the leadership of outgoing Commander, Lt. Col. Guillermo T. Mabute Jr., during the Turnover of Command Ceremony held this afternoon (June 6, 2024) at Edwards Camp, Brgy. Mirab, Upi, Maguindanao del Norte.
Under the exemplary command of Lt. Col. Mabute, the 57IB successfully neutralized 59 members of various threat groups. Additionally, the battalion seized 165 different types of war materials, showcasing their relentless efforts to maintain peace and security in their area of operation.
Major General Rillera highlighted several key achievements during Lt. Col. Mabute’s tenure, including the neutralization of Ian Dela Rama alias Chris, Commander of the Regional Operation Command of the Communist Terrorist Group, and Rainjan Villegas alias Alberto, 1st Deputy Secretary of the Sub-Regional Committee. Lt. Col. Mabute also facilitated the surrender of numerous members of local terrorist groups and the Communist Terrorist Group, significantly weakening their influence and operations.
Lt. Col. Aeron T. Gumabao assumed command of the 57th Infantry Battalion, taking over from Lt. Col. Mabute. Lt. Col. Mabute is expected to take on the role of Assistant Chief of Staff for Training and Education, G8, bringing his extensive experience and leadership to the new position.
Major General Rillera commended Lt. Col. Mabute for his dedication and effective leadership, which have greatly contributed to the success of the 57th Infantry Battalion in their mission to ensure peace and security in their area of responsibility.
