Retired ship captain found dead in Davao City home; house helper missing on NewsLine Philippines - Building Information Highway for the Community
DAVAO CITY – A 62-year-old retired ship captain, who also owned a medical laboratory, was found dead inside his home in Buhangin, Davao City, on Saturday afternoon, March 15, 2025.
According to a police report, the victim’s wife and child were in Manila at the time. Concerned after multiple unanswered calls, the wife asked an employee from their medical laboratory to check on him.
Upon arrival, the employee and another colleague attempted to contact the homeowner but received no response. Forcing their way inside, they discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood.
Authorities identified the household helper as Jazon Soda Capisnon, a resident of Katualan, Mabunao, Panabo City, who was missing from the scene.
An initial Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) inspection revealed that the victim had sustained a stab wound to the neck, and a knife was recovered from the crime scene.
Police later visited Capisnon’s residence and spoke with his father, a Barangay Tanod, who stated that his son had not returned home for two weeks.
Further investigation led authorities to recover a notebook in the suspect’s room, allegedly detailing plans to kill the victim. Additionally, a blood-stained round bar was found among the collected pieces of evidence.
Police have tagged Jazon Capisnon as the primary person of interest in the case and are now conducting a manhunt operation to locate him.
