DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Lito Mansamo, the barangay captain of Barangay Salumay, and his companion narrowly escaped an ambush early Tuesday morning, September 3, around 7:50 a.m.
According to initial reports from the Marilog police, Mansamo, 47, and his companion Alma Zarate Mansamo, 45, were traveling in their service pickup truck through Purok 1 in Barangay Salumay when two suspects wearing bonnets and armed with long firearms blocked their path and opened fire.
Fortunately, Lito Mansamo was unharmed, but Alma Zarate Mansamo sustained an injury to her right knee.
The suspects quickly fled the scene following the attack.
Police operatives have initiated a manhunt for the suspects involved in the ambush.
