KIDAPAWAN CITY—The Timpupu Festival has emerged as a symbol of the Kidapawenos’ resilience and unity, despite recent calamities such as the El Niño phenomenon, severe drought, and water shortages.
Despite these significant challenges, the festival showcased impressive local strength and prosperity.
“This year’s festival has demonstrated that we are united in confronting the challenges posed by natural disasters and climate change,” said Mayor Paolo Evangelista. “It reflects our collective effort to overcome adversity and highlights our capacity to recover and thrive.”
The event, held on August 17, attracted thousands of residents and visitors worldwide. The festival featured a 1.5-kilometer stretch along the highway, known as the “Fruit Stand,” where attendees enjoyed a variety of fruits for free in a popular activity called “Fruits All You Can.”
The increased fruit harvests despite the environmental impacts were a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of local farmers. “This is the real blessing,” Evangelista emphasized. “We are celebrating not only the abundance of our produce but also the strength of our community in bouncing back from adversity.”
Rebecca, a resident of Kidapawan City, expressed her enthusiasm for the festival, stating, “We enjoyed the Timpupu Festival and the fruits produced by our fellow Kidapawenos. It was a wonderful way to connect with our community and celebrate our shared resilience.”
The city invested significantly in the festival to make it a meaningful event that symbolizes unity and collective strength amidst the challenges of climate change.
