DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A large troop assembly has been reported at the Police Regional Office Command in Camp Catitipan since early this morning.
Sources indicate that police forces from across the Davao Region and neighboring provinces have converged at the camp in response to recent developments involving the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).
This troop buildup follows bold statements made by KOJC officials during a Senate Committee on Peace and Order hearing on Tuesday.
During the hearing, KOJC representatives declared their readiness to accommodate the Philippine National Police (PNP) with a “red carpet” welcome, provided the PNP arrived with the appropriate legal documentation.
The KOJC officials had previously indicated their willingness to allow police searches for their leader, Apollo Quiboloy, and other co-accused, as long as the searches are supported by legal warrants.
Police Regional Office XI Director Nicolas Torre III presented an alias warrant issued by the Pasig Court during the Senate hearing, which pertains to the multiple cases against Quiboloy and his co-accused. This warrant is central to the ongoing legal proceedings.
Additionally, Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos had previously promised to visit Davao City “anytime” to address the situation directly. His visit could be related to the current deployment of police troops in the area.
Newsline has reached out to the PNP for confirmation of these reports.
As of this publication, the PNP has not yet responded to requests for comment.
Newsline is still waiting for the comment of KoJC officials.
