DAVAO CITY, Philippines – After 95 days of reporting to the Regional Police Accounting and Personnel Holding Section (RPHAS), 34 Davao City police officers are now pleased to return to active duty with new assignments.
The officers were relieved from their posts by then-Regional Police Director Brigadier General Aligre Martinez following an incident involving the deaths of seven drug suspects. They had been stationed at the RPHAS from May 24, 2024, after being reassigned on May 23, 2024.
It was learned that Police Regional Director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III wants police officers to be integrated into the communities and help drive against criminality since they have been idle for over three months.
In a memorandum dated August 28, 2024, which took effect on August 30, was signed by Police Colonel Richard Bad-ang, Chief of Regional Personnel and Records, the new assignments for the officers were outlined:

The reassignment of these officers came at the recommendation of the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) to facilitate the investigation into the deaths of the seven drug suspects in a buy-bust operation. This followed Bad-ang’s appointment as the new DCPO director on March 22, 2024.
The relieved officers expressed satisfaction with their new postings, noting the opportunity for a fresh start in different provinces. “It’s a new place and a fresh start for us. We’re eager to serve other communities,” one officer remarked.
