DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Senator Ronald dela Rosa on Wednesday, July 10, the Senator highlighted the exceptional performance of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), declaring that the DCPO remains the finest in the country.
“Davao City Police Office is a Hall of Famer as far as best of the best competition in all-around unit performance is concerned”, the Senator added.
The DCPO has long been a standout in national policing, earning the title of Best City Police Office of the Year multiple times. Its consistent excellence led the National Headquarters of the Philippine National Police (NHQ PNP) to exclude it from the annual unit awards in 2012 to allow other units a chance to win.
The Senator attributed the DCPO’s success to its commitment to community policing. “The police is the community and the community is the police,” he stated, emphasizing the strong bond between the Davao City Police and its residents.
“The support from City Hall is unwavering,” Dela Rosa noted. “We have a local media that is fair and friendly, and a business community that is very supportive.” He praised the discipline of Davaoeños, who proudly uphold city ordinances, such as the anti-smoking law, and the dedication of police officers who serve as if they are protecting their own families.
This mutual respect and support create a unique synergy between the police and the community. “If the Davao City Police is demoralized, the Davao City community is also demoralized and upset,” Dela Rosa pointed out, highlighting the deep connection between them.
In light of recent events, Dela Rosa conveyed the community’s simple yet earnest request to the PNP hierarchy: fair treatment for the Davao City Police. “This is not a demand, not yet,” he remarked, underscoring the community’s desire for equity and justice.
Dela Rosa’s statement reaffirms the high regard for the Davao City Police Office, a model of community policing and a source of pride for Davaoeños.
The Senator once served as DCPO Director and was appointed as Chief of the Philippine National Police.
