Random blood samples have also been made mandatory in areas within a 5-kilometer radius of the outbreak’s epicenter.
Earlier, Dr. Rufino Sorupia, the provincial veterinarian, stated that the province has incurred P10 million in losses due to ASF.
The ASF outbreak extends beyond Kidapawan City, affecting the towns of Presidente Roxas, Pigcawayan, and Antipas in Cotabato Province. In addition to Kidapawan, ASF cases have been reported in four municipalities and one city within the province. Authorities in these areas are implementing stringent measures to control the spread of the virus, including regulating hog transportation and slaughtering practices.
Local veterinary teams are conducting thorough inspections and monitoring to prevent further outbreaks. The provincial government assures residents that comprehensive steps are being taken to support affected hog raisers and ensure public health safety.-with report from Esther Roque
