DAVAO CITY (June 4) — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has retained the majority of his Cabinet members following a recent performance evaluation, signaling policy continuity and confidence in his existing team as the administration moves into its third year.
In a press briefing at Malacañang, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced the names of key department heads who will continue to serve under Marcos, affirming their alignment with the administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda.
Retained Secretaries:
- Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. – Department of Agriculture
- Conrado Estrella III – Department of Agrarian Reform
- Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara – Department of Education
- Bienvenido Laguesma – Department of Labor and Employment
- Rex Gatchalian – Department of Social Welfare and Development
- Ted Herbosa – Department of Health
- Hans Leo Cacdac – Department of Migrant Workers
- Renato Solidum Jr. – Department of Science and Technology
- Christina Garcia Frasco – Department of Tourism
- Henry Aguda – Department of Information and Communications Technology
- Vince Dizon – Department of Transportation
- Manuel Bonoan – Department of Public Works and Highways
Bersamin said the decision was made after a “comprehensive review” of their respective department performance metrics and the President’s assessment of their commitment to effective governance and public service delivery.
“These officials have shown both capability and integrity in executing the President’s directives. Their retention ensures stability in critical programs that impact millions of Filipinos,” Bersamin said.
The announcement comes at a pivotal time as the Marcos administration aims to ramp up infrastructure projects, digital transformation, education reform, and agricultural modernization, priorities that many of the retained officials are actively leading.
President Marcos, who still holds the portfolio of Secretary of Agriculture in concurrent capacity, is expected to announce additional appointments and possibly reshuffle other posts in the coming weeks to address evolving policy demands.
The Cabinet review follows months of speculation about a potential overhaul amid rising public expectations and growing scrutiny over the administration’s performance on inflation, food security, and public health.
Bersamin clarified that the review is part of an institutionalized accountability framework to ensure that Cabinet members meet their performance targets.
