DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos has issued a stern warning to anyone obstructing the Philippine National Police (PNP) operations or assisting Apollo Quiboloy in evading capture.

Abalos threatened to pursue legal action against individuals who interfere with the enforcement of justice in the high-profile case involving the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).

Presentation of Quiboloy and Co-Accused

At a press conference held on September 9, Secretary Abalos publicly presented Apollo Quiboloy, who appeared with his face covered by a scarf, sunglasses, and a cap to obscure his identity. Alongside Quiboloy, his co-accused—Ingrid Canada, Sylvia Cemañes, Jacklyn Roy, and Cresente Canada—were also shown to the media.

The presentation was part of the government’s effort to update the public on the progress of the case and to demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to addressing the charges.

Legal Actions and Calls for Victims

Quiboloy and his co-accused are facing serious charges including child abuse and human trafficking. The PNP has intensified its efforts to bring justice to the victims involved.

Abalos urged other victims or witnesses to come forward and file formal complaints, emphasizing that their cooperation is crucial for a comprehensive investigation.

Details of the Detention and Surrender

During the press conference, the PNP showcased Quiboloy’s detention cell, providing a glimpse into his current legal situation.

PNP Chief Francisco Rommel Marbil detailed the intense efforts by law enforcement to locate and apprehend Quiboloy. He disclosed that the police were closing in on Quiboloy when he finally surrendered, highlighting the challenges faced during the operation.

PNP XI Regional Director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said Quiboloy was hiding all along inside the ACQ building of the Bible school building while his co-accused were inside another building which the PNP had already identified before they surrendered, indicating the complex and ongoing nature of the search.

“Nandoon lang sya sa Bible school, at doon siya kinuha ni Brig. General (Romeo) Macapas kasama ang isang Colonel na ISAFP, kasi ayaw niya akong makita, kaya si Gen. Macapas and pumasok sa building” (He was just there at the Bible school, Brig. General Macapas was with an ISAFP Colonel because he didn’t want to see me, so General Macapas went inside the building.”

Government’s Stance and Future Steps

Abalos underscored the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards any interference with legal processes. He warned that individuals found aiding Quiboloy’s escape or obstructing the investigation could face severe penalties.

He said the government remains committed to pursuing justice and ensuring that all involved in these serious offenses are held accountable.

The authorities are also working to enhance their operational strategies and legal frameworks to prevent similar situations in the future.

This case has drawn significant public attention, and the government’s actions aim to reinforce the rule of law and protect the rights of victims.

The PNP continues to monitor the situation closely and is coordinating with various agencies to ensure that all legal and procedural steps are taken to bring the accused to justice.

THE KOJC

Atty. Israelito Torreon, the lead counsel of the KOJC has earlier said they will also file charges before the court noting all the violations that the PNP has committed.

The PNP has earlier been accused of digging the ground of the Jose Maria College Building and violating the human rights of the members of KOJC.
