DAVAO CITY, Philippines — In 24 hours from 6:00 a.m. on August 10 to 5:59 a.m. on August 11, law enforcement officials seized illegal drugs valued at P5.7 million during eight operations conducted across seven police precincts under the Davao City Police Office, resulting in the arrest of 12 suspects.
The Baliok Police Station led the efforts, confiscating P4.8 million shabu in a single operation and arresting two individuals.
Following that, the Sasa Police Station seized drugs worth P507,960 in two separate operations, apprehending five suspects.
Additional seizures included:
- San Pedro Police Station: One suspect arrested with drugs valued at P286,960.
- Sta. Ana Police Station: One person was arrested with 0.9 grams of drugs worth P6,120.
- Bajada Police Station: One suspect was caught with drugs valued at P5,576.
- Tugbok Police Station: One individual was arrested with drugs worth P4,043.
- Bunawan Police Station: One suspect was apprehended with drugs valued at P1,936.
According to Police Major Marcille Manzano, commander of the Sasa police precinct, operatives monitored the suspects’ activities closely.
“They started to deliver until they reached the house of the suspect,” she explained. “Their operation is door-to-door because they have a car and sell drugs directly to customers”, Manzano added.
The suspects are currently detained at their respective police precincts and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
