Camp Crame rejects request to reassign 64 Davao cops to PNP National Headquarters

DAVAO CITY Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters has denied a request from the Police Regional Office (PRO) XI to reassign 64 police officers from the Davao Region.

In a memorandum dated July 30, the PNP headquarters stated, “Please be informed that it is not feasible pursuant to Section 6, paragraph (a)(2) of PNP Memorandum Circular No. 2024-001, which provides that only personnel from NHQ shall be reassigned to the Admin Holding Section of the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU), DPRM, while personnel from PROs shall be reassigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Section (RPHAS).”

On July 15, 2024, PRO XI Director Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III submitted the request for reassignment, which included officers primarily from the Davao City Police Office. This request was notably tied to ongoing investigations into the deaths of suspected drug peddlers in Davao City that occurred in March of this year.

On Wednesday night, Torre commented on the situation without referencing the recent memorandum, stating, “Many of those relieved are now serving as station commanders and deputy commanders here in the Davao Region.”
