DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Police operatives in the Zamboanga Peninsula seized around P62 million worth of smuggled cigarettes during anti-smuggling operations in the last three months.
The Police Regional Office (PRO-9) stated that from April 1, 2024, to June 30, 2024, the police seized smuggled cigarettes worth P62.6 million from the 145 operations against smuggling in the region. These operations resulted in the capture of 112 suspects involved in smuggling activities, the PNP statement emphasized.
PRO-9 Regional Director PBGen. Bowenn Joey Masaudding assured that the police, in collaboration with other government agencies, remain committed to their strict anti-smuggling campaign. Their goal is to eradicate the problem of smuggling goods and make the Zamboanga Peninsula smuggling-free.
