BI Nabs Kyrgyzstani woman linked to drug syndicate for overstaying

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has announced the arrest of a Kyrgyzstani woman ordered deported for overstaying and her alleged involvement in illegal drugs.

In a report to Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) identified the individual as Anara Ruslanova, 29, who was apprehended in a residential area of Makati City on July 23.

The operation was carried out following a mission order issued by Tansingco after the bureau received tips from informants regarding Ruslanova’s whereabouts.

Following her arrest, Ruslanova was taken to the BI custodial facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, where she will remain pending deportation.

Operatives suspect that Ruslanova has connections to members of a West African drug syndicate, which was previously apprehended by the BI and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during a raid on a bar in Makati on June 20, 2022.

Ruslanova is currently under investigation by the NBI for her potential knowledge of the syndicate’s illegal drug trading activities in the Philippines. Additionally, she has been slapped with a deportation case by the BI for being an undesirable and overstaying alien.

On November 21, 2023, the BI board of commissioners ordered Ruslanova’s deportation and her inclusion on the immigration blacklist, effectively banning her from re-entering the Philippines.

Records indicate that Ruslanova last entered the country on October 4, 2018, and has not departed since then. She has not applied for any visa to legally extend her stay.

Commissioner Tansingco described Ruslanova as an undesirable alien and affirmed that she will remain in the BI facility until her deportation is executed.
