The 2022 Met Gala was co-chaired by Lively and Reynolds, along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Regina King, Tom Ford, and Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram.
The Gossip Girl star opened up about the meaning behind her dress on the carpet. She said the look was an ode to New York City. The dress transformation was meant to represent the Statue of Liberty going from copper to green. The draping on the gown was also meant to mimic that of the statue, the train represents the 12 zodiac signs present on the constellation ceiling of Grand Central Terminal, the golden design on the torso is meant to represent the Empire State Building, and the tiara is meant to symbolize Lady Liberty, per Lively.
