Sarah Jessica Parker and fellow actor Matthew Broderick have been married for 25 years—longer than almost any couple in Hollywood—and Broderick says he knew Parker was the one from the very start.
“Oh, the first time I met her,” Broderick said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen after the host asked him when he fell for her. “I saw her walking down the street and thought, That’s it.”

During the show, Cohen—a longtime friend of Parker—lovingly bombarded Broderick with questions about their relationship. When asked what SJP’s best gift to him has been, the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off actor said, “A trip once—a surprise, blindfolded, suddenly I was in the Caribbean.” He also said that SJP’s “humor and wisdom” are the two qualities he most admires about her.
Parker and Broderick began dating in 1991 and married in 1997. They now have three kids together and are currently starring in Broadway show Plaza Suite together—playing at New York’s Hudson Theatre through July 6. It is the first acting project they’ve done together since 1996’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Broderick recently spoke about the play on the SiriusXM radio show Quarantined with Bruce. “You know, speaking of how talented my wife is, I should also say that getting to do this play, even though we only just did it in Boston for a little while … she was so, so good in it,” he said.
“I really had never acted with her onstage and hadn’t really acted with her at all. And I was just reminded of how funny and smart and what a great comic actor she is—or actor, never mind the comic part,” he continued. “She’s very good at it. So I hope everybody gets to see her do it.”
