DAVAO CITY (January 27) — The ₱191.3 million rehabilitation of the Linawan–Alegre farm-to-market (FMR) road in Bansalan, Davao del Sur is set to boost farmers’ livelihoods, improve access to essential services, and uplift rural communities, the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) said Monday.

Part of the PRDP Scale-Up initiative, the project targets barangays Linawan and Alegre, with farmers identified as the primary beneficiaries.

“This goes beyond infrastructure. It is a commitment to uplifting the lives of farmers and rural communities who depend on this road every day,” PRDP said.

The road will streamline the transport of agricultural produce, ensure safer routes for students, provide faster access to health facilities, and enhance community access to government services. Safety remains a top priority, with strict measures in place for workers and residents.

The Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit said additional manpower will be deployed to fast-track construction, with completion targeted by the third quarter of 2026.

Investment and Community Impact

Local farmers and residents have welcomed the project:

“Once completed, transporting our crops will be faster and cheaper. It will make a real difference for our families,” said Jose del Rosario, a farmer from Barangay Linawan.

“Better roads mean safer travel for our children and easier access to health services,” said Rina Santos, a resident of Barangay Alegre.

PRDP emphasized that the rehabilitation reflects strong collaboration among government agencies, private partners, and local communities, reinforcing the broader goal of inclusive and sustainable rural development.

“The Linawan–Alegre FMR embodies the mission of PRDP Scale-Up — expanding rural infrastructure, empowering local communities, and promoting inclusive growth across the region,” the agency said.
