DAVAO CITY — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ramped up its internal accountability measures following the issuance of warrants for personnel involved in a .
Out of the 30 individuals implicated in the case, 29 have had warrants of arrest issued by Hon. Gwyn Calina of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 44, National Capital Judicial Region, for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Chief PNP Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil has issued firm directives to ensure accountability for all involved personnel, reaffirming the PNP’s dedication to eradicating misconduct within its ranks. “There will be no mercy when it comes to wrongdoings committed by our personnel,” PGen Marbil stated. “This decisive action demonstrates our commitment to eliminating corruption and maintaining public trust in the PNP.”
Of the 30 implicated individuals, 22 remain active in service, two have retired, three have opted for early retirement, one has resigned, and two have already been dismissed. In a bid to expedite the apprehension of all involved, Police Major General Edgar Alan O. Okubo, Chief of the Directorial Staff, has been tasked with forming a dedicated Task Force to ensure the swift capture of the implicated individuals.
In parallel, administrative cases will be pursued to hold active personnel accountable, with penalties ranging from dismissal to other sanctions, while they will also face legal consequences for their actions.
“We assure the public that justice will be served. Those responsible for tarnishing the PNP’s reputation will be held accountable both criminally and administratively,” PGen Marbil affirmed.
This operation is part of the PNP’s ongoing efforts to maintain its zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities and corruption, with an unwavering focus on accountability, justice, and due process. The PNP also calls on the public to support its efforts in cleansing its ranks and restoring confidence in law enforcement. It sends a clear message that any betrayal of public trust will not be tolerated.
