DAVAO CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remains steadfast in his mission to uplift lives, drive economic growth, and secure the country’s future, even amid the results of the recent Pulse Asia survey on his approval and trust ratings.

“Governance scorecard should not be confined to pollings alone,” said Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin in a statement.

Bersamin emphasized that executive decisions are driven by public interest rather than the desire to achieve high approval ratings. “High popularity ratings are a bonus and not the bedrock of effective public service,” he said.

While acknowledging that surveys are reliable indicators of public opinion, Bersamin underscored that they are not the sole measure of governance.

“To consider surveys as the sole indicator is to take our focus away from the more important metrics, like employment, that reliably measure our progress as a nation,” he noted.

Bersamin also highlighted the essence of true leadership, which requires pursuing what is right even if it is not widely supported or popular.

“As the President’s actions show, we have remained focused on our critical mission of uplifting lives, growing the economy, and securing our future,” Bersamin added.

The statement comes as the Marcos administration continues to prioritize long-term solutions over short-term popularity, emphasizing that governance is about achieving substantial progress for the nation.
