Davao City residents to receive free water access on Nov. 9 on NewsLine Philippines - Building Information Highway for the Community
DAVAO CITY –— Over 190,000 households in Davao City will benefit from free water access on November 9 as part of the Davao City Water District’s (DCWD) 51st anniversary celebration.
Jovana Cresta Duhaylungsod, the spokesperson of the water firm said the free supply will be availed by residents with 1/2-inch water meters and requires no prior registration.
“Our water supply can meet both current and future demand,” Duhaylungsod emphasized in a recent interview, underscoring the reliability of Davao City’s water supply system.
The city has made significant investments in its water infrastructure, which includes an extensive network of pipelines and reservoirs that draw from multiple sources, ensuring a consistent supply even during periods of high demand.
This initiative coincides with Water Consciousness Month, during which DCWD will host events to thank communities, especially those residing in watershed areas, for their efforts in supporting water conservation.
In addition to free water access, DCWD will lead various school and community activities that highlight Davao’s climate-resilient water infrastructure. This infrastructure is designed to ensure a stable water supply amid climate challenges such as El Niño.
“In these activities, we will be showcasing the pride of our city, as Davao City currently enjoys what we call climate-resilient water service,” Duhaylungsod stated, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices in safeguarding the region’s water resources.
