DAVAO CITY — Good news to Davao LIght consumers!

The Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) has reported a reduction in its overall residential electricity rate for October 2024. The rate has dropped by P1.0277 per kilowatt hour (kWh), bringing the new rate to P8.4475/kWh, down from P9.4752/kWh in September.

For a typical household that consumes an average of 200 kWh per month, this decrease translates to a savings of approximately P205.54 on their billing period from October 11 to November 10.

This reduction comes on the heels of the conclusion of a staggered payment plan for the May 2024 Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) billing. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) mandated this staggered payment plan, which was evenly distributed across the months of June through September, as outlined in ERC Case No. 2024-017 MC.

While the reduction in rates is a positive sign for consumers, Davao Light urges its customers to remain vigilant regarding their energy consumption.

The company cautioned that high electricity bills could still be a concern if energy use is not managed effectively, especially as the holiday season approaches.

“Filipinos traditionally celebrate Christmas early, often adorning their homes with electric decorations as soon as the ‘ber’ months arrive. We urge our customers to implement energy conservation measures to avoid unexpected spikes in their electricity bills in the coming months,” said Fermin Edillon, Head of the Reputation Enhancement Department at Davao Light.

To assist consumers in managing their electricity usage, Davao Light encourages customers to visit its official Facebook page, DavaoLightOfficial, for energy conservation tips. Additional information about the complete October 2024 rates can be found on the company’s official website at www.davaolight.com.

Davao Light, a subsidiary of AboitizPower, ranks as the country’s third-largest privately owned electric distribution utility in terms of customer size and annual kWh sales. Its franchise area encompasses the cities of Davao and Panabo, as well as the municipalities of Carmen, Dujali, and Sto. Tomas.

As the company continues to focus on providing reliable and affordable electricity, it remains committed to enhancing customer experience and promoting sustainable energy practices among its consumer base.
