DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Two foreign nationals were arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) during a raid on a residence in a subdivision in Brgy. Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet, on the morning of July 27.
The individuals, identified as Wang Keping, a 35-year-old female, and Khuon Moeurn, a 37-year-old male, were apprehended in a joint operation conducted by the BI’s Intelligence Division and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. stated that the operation was initiated based on information from the PAOCC regarding a Chinese woman being sought in connection with a recent raid in Bamban, Tarlac. Following this lead, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco issued a mission order to apprehend the target Chinese woman.
However, upon arrival at the location, the target was not found. Instead, two foreign nationals were present in the vicinity. After verification, it was determined that Moeurn, an alleged Cambodian national, was undocumented and overstaying his visa, as he was unable to present valid documentation. Operatives noted that Moeurn could only provide a photo of his supposed Cambodian passport, which contained a visa that expired in August 2020.
“While Wang holds a valid working visa, she may face charges for violating immigration laws by harboring an illegal alien,” Manahan explained.
Both foreign nationals have been arrested and will be taken to Manila for booking procedures. They will remain in the physical custody of the PAOCC while undergoing deportation proceedings.
