KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines — Residents and tourists came together to grill tons of tilapia and catfish during the first-ever “Sugba sa Dalan” held on May 30.
The City Government set up a long stretch of grilling area from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) to the Marasigan Building on Quezon Boulevard, allowing participants to grill their own food. The event drew over 3,000 attendees, who were able to enjoy the experience free of charge.
City Mayor Atty. Jose Paolo M. Evangelista organized the event as a way to thank the farmers and fisherfolks of the city. In his speech, Evangelista emphasized the importance of supporting the agriculture sector to combat poverty and hunger, stating, “We are doing this for our farmers, to our fisherfolks. In order to solve poverty, in order to solve hunger, we prioritize the agriculture sector. It is our first agenda in our city.”
The activity also served as an opportunity to promote the delicious and high-quality tilapia and catfish produced in Kidapawan City.
