DAVAO CITY — Two persons sustained shrapnel wounds after a grenade was lobbed while the Sunday Mass was ongoing inside Santo Niño Chapel in Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Rosary Heights 3, Cotabato City at around 10:30 in the morning on Sunday.
The blast caused panic among Muslim and Christian residents nearby.
Colonel Querubin Manalang, Jr., City Director of Cotabato City police identified the two wounded Catholic faithful as Marybel Atis, 40, and 65-year-old Rosita Tubilo, who were among the attendees of the church service.

Police investigators have been deployed to secure a copy of the CCTV footage in the area as a manhunt operation is ongoing.
It can be recalled that four people were killed while 42 others were wounded when suspected members of Dawlah Islamiya lobbed a grenade inside Dimaporo Gymnasium at Mindanao State University in Marawi City on December 3, 2023, while the Sunday mass was ongoing.
