TAGUM CITY, – An establishment in Quirante 1 and 2, Barangay Magugpo Poblacion, Tagum City, owned by the New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC), was engulfed in flames last night, September 24. As of this morning, the fire has been declared under control. The fire reportedly started around 10:10 PM in the area and was declared out by 5:45am. The fire reached the fourth alarm.
The NCCC-owned establishment was the one affected.
Firefighters battled the blaze by deploying torrents of water to combat the ferocious fire, which had grown intense and expansive. Black plumes of smoke filled the night sky as the inferno raged on.
According to a statement on the New City Commercial Corporation’s Facebook page, the fire began in Building 1 of their property. It quickly spread to the Department Store Warehouse, HardwareMaxx store, and the company staff house.
Volunteer fire brigades from Davao City joined the rescue efforts.
No casualties have been reported so far.
The Bureau of Fire has yet to determine the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. Investigations are ongoing.
The mall’s management continues to cooperate with authorities.
