There may not be a moment quite as buzzy as the Chris Rock slap from the 2022 Oscars, but next week, we will be able to bask in the winning artists of the year’s most popular television shows, and, of course, take in more glamorous celebrity looks, at the 2022 Emmys.
The 74th annual Emmy Awards take place Monday, September 12, at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and the ceremony will be hosted by Nickelodeon’s Kenan Thompson.
Leading the pack of the most highly nominated shows this year is HBO’s dramedy Succession, keeping to its upward trend of nominations per season with 25 nods for Season 3. Other leading shows include Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso with 20 total nominations, including another nod for Outstanding Comedy Series, which the show won last year, and HBO’s The White Lotus, which ties with Lasso at 20 nominations for standout performances.

Popular murder mystery series Only Murders in the Building may also make history this year based on its projected wins. Per the Variety Awards Circuit, the cheeky series starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short is predicted to take home nine wins out of its 17 total nominations—an outcome that would surpass the record currently held by Amazon Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for the most nominations in an inaugural season of a comedy series.
And HBO Max’s viral teen drama series Euphoria comes close behind Murders at 16 nominations. Zendaya previously nabbed an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role as Rue in the series, a monumental win making her the youngest-ever recipient of an Emmy.

Where to Watch
The ceremony will be broadcast on NBC, accessible with cable television. For the first time this year, the event will also be available for livestreaming on NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock, with a Peacock Premium yearly subscription that comes out to $2 per month. It will additionally be streamed on Hulu + Live TV with monthly plans beginning at $50 for the first three months.
For an exclusive preshow scoop featuring interviews and celebrity look close-ups, the event’s live red-carpet action—led by four-time Emmy nominee Laverne Cox—will air on the E! network’s Live from the Red Carpet, which can be accessed via both cable and Hulu + Live TV, and through YouTube TV with a monthly subscription of $65 (including $15 for the first month).
