Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have said everything they’ve needed to say about that now-infamous Oscars slap—and now, the two are going back to their daily lives.
The actor couple was seen out this weekend for the first time since the incident, which occurred in March. Smith and Pinkett Smith were pictured walking out of Malibu hot spot Nobu on Saturday, following a romantic meal without their kids.
The King Richard star looked cool in a monochrome navy ensemble consisting of a patterned polo, elegant slacks, a Westbrook baseball cap with a white W embroidered on the front, and white sneakers. He waved to photographers and smiled as he walked to his car.
Behind Smith, holding onto his pants, was wife Pinkett Smith, who opted for a casual street style look: a black button-up paired with matching cargo pants; a red, white, and gray plaid flannel; and white sneakers with an abstract black zebra-print design. She accessorized with large yellow-tinted aviator sunglasses, gold hoop earrings, and a matching bangle.
The pair’s low-key date comes weeks after Smith shared a lengthy video on YouTube, in which he addressed his actions toward Chris Rock and the 2022 Oscars, and revealed the comedian is “not ready to talk.”
“So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable, and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk,” Smith said, also sharing an apology to Rock’s mother and family members.
Rock has not spoken much of The Slap, though last month he did talk about cancel culture during a stand-up show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and joked that “anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.”
