Lea Michele has canceled the remainder of her Life in Music tour to put all her energy into preparing for her lead role in Funny Girl.
The Glee star, who is replacing Beanie Feldstein as Fanny Brice in the Broadway show, kicked off rehearsals last month. And per Daily Mail, her upcoming show dates would directly interfere with her Funny Girl rehearsals, which is why she chose to cut her tour short.
Michele announced her summer tour in May and kicked off her shows, all held at City Winery venues throughout the country, some weeks ago.
“In 1995, I stepped on stage in the Broadway production of Les Mis and performed in front of an audience for the first time in my life. From that day on, I knew performing on a stage is where I feel most alive,” she wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “I cannot be more thrilled to get back to the stage for this concert run. I’ll be taking it back to the beginning; singing songs and telling stories from the shows that I grew up performing like Les Mis, Ragtime, and Spring Awakening. I’ll also be singing songs from Glee and my own albums.”
In the end, however, she ended up carrying out only three of the six performances she was scheduled for.

Michele has not addressed the issue, and she is currently in New York City getting ready for her big Broadway break. The actress will perform her first show as Fanny on September 6.
Producers for the Broadway production of Funny Girl announced last month that Michele would take over the lead role from Feldstein, who revealed just hours before that she’d be departing the show months before her run was set to end.
Feldstein performed for the last time as Fanny at the August Wilson Theatre on July 31, writing an emotional farewell on Instagram hours later.
In the post, she shared behind-the-scenes photos with fellow cast members, as well as friends, many who praised Feldstein on social media. “But now it’s just another show/And you leave ’em laughing when you go,” she wrote in the caption, taking the lyrics from Joni Mitchell’s song “Both Sides Now.”
