Bad Bunny is on a roll.
Along with starring in this summer’s blockbuster Bullet Train, opening his first Miami restaurant with hospitality tycoon David Grutman, and embarking on his biggest world tour yet, the Puerto Rican superstar still has more on his to-do list. BAZAAR.com can exclusively reveal that the ‘Me Porto Bonito’ singer is set to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards on August 28. Bad Bunny joins a number of standout acts gracing the VMAs stage that night including Blackpink, Nicki Minaj, Jack Harlow, J Balvin, Anitta, and more. The performance will be a special “made for VMAs” moment airing live from the Bad Bunny’s World’s Hottest Tour stop at Yankees stadium in the Bronx, New York—marking the first time a VMAs performance has ever been aired from the iconic venue. The star is a 7-time nominee for the evening, scoring nominations for Artist of the Year as well as Best Latin Artist.

The announcement comes on the heels of what’s been a career defining summer for Bad Bunny. His latest album Un Verano Sin Ti has smashed streaming records since it’s release back in May and has made history as the only all Spanish-language album to spend multiple weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart. The musician reflected on the impact of his massive success in a new cover story for Harper’s BAZAAR’s September Icons issue.

“There comes a moment when you’re like, ‘Diablo, estoy en un nivel muy alto.’ And then the next year comes and you’re like, ‘Diablo!’ By the time I noticed that things were different, it didn’t really affect me. It may change things around me, but I stay the same. Soy un normalito. I am who I am,” Bad Bunny told BAZAAR. “[My success] is for more than just myself, but also for the fans and for all of the Latinos in the world.”
The MTV Video Music Awards will air on MTV on Sunday, August 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
