Kanye West has dropped out of Coachella after skipping Sunday’s Grammys.
A source close to the rapper told TMZ that he has decided to cancel his performance at the music festival in Indio, California, which starts April 15. And since Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend, Travis Scott, was supposed to perform with West at the event, fans won’t get to see him now either.
Though West hasn’t publicly addressed his decision, it comes after he was absent from last night’s Grammys, where he was nominated for five awards despite being banned from performing due to his social media conduct.
A source close to the family told Page Six that the “Heartless” singer decided to step away from the spotlight and focus on his health and family. He even reportedly told ex-wife Kim Kardashian that he would stop harassing her and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson. “For the sake of the kids, Kanye has told Kim he’s not making any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements, and he will go away somewhere to get better,” the source said.
It’s unclear where or how the artist plans to get help.
Now, Coachella has been left with an open headliner spot. The other two headliners are Harry Styles and Billie Eilish.
Like West, Scott has not spoken out about missing Coachella. The festival would’ve been a major appearance for the “Highest in the Room” rapper, who hasn’t publicly performed since his 2021 Astroworld tragedy, which led to the deaths of 10 concertgoers and has resulted in hundreds of lawsuits for Scott.
Rolling Stone reported that Scott did do a brief set at a private, star-studded pre-Oscars house party in Bel-Air, California, late last month—but it was kept on the down-low (except for the videos that inevitably circled the web). Celebrities in attendance reportedly included Leonardo DiCaprio, Venus and Serena Williams, YG, and Tobey Maguire.
Other than that, Scott—who recently welcomed his second child with Jenner—has stayed off the stage following his Houston concert gone wrong, and, for the most part, off social media.
